Alessio Gagliardi was born on October 31st 1978 in Rome, Italy.
In 2003 he got his diploma in Telecomunication Engineering from the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". From February 2004 to June 2007 he worked as PhD student in the group of Prof. Frauenheim, first in Paderborn and after at the BCCMS center in Bremen, Germany. The work was focused on the development of a code (gDFTB) to simulate quantum transport in molecular electronic devices with particular interest to electron correlation and dissipative effects (PhD thesis: "Theoretical Modeling and Simulation of Electron-Phonon Scattering Processes in Molecular Electronic Devices").
From July 2007 to March 2008 he worked as Post Doc in the group of Prof. Frauenheim continuing the work on simulation of dissipative effects in molecular devices.
Since April 2008 he works at the OLAB, University of Rome "Tor Vergata" in the group of Prof. Di Carlo.
His research interests are:
- Development of numerical and analytical models of DSSC
- Object oriented software implementation of simulation models in a complex multiphysics environment
- Simulation of optical excitations of dyes using time-dependent DFT
- Development of a numerical model to simulate organic materials (OPV, organic memories)
